We have several housing options. You can stay at our “intern hostel” very close to the dive center and share your experiences with the other interns and IDC candidates, or you can book your own private accommodation.

At the “intern hostel” the bed in a shared dorm room is included in the price for the IDC but excluding monthly utilities (electricity and water) which are shared amongst roommates.

On average about an extra 50 USD per month per person.

We can also organize private condos for rent. Contact us for details.
Or you can also find your own accommodation on Airbnb or on Facebook groups like

Coco Chitchat or Coco rentals.

The cost for Groceries is pretty much the same US / Europe. Going out for dinner varies from $5 to $20 a meal.

2022 JUNE-5.jpg

Our location offers excellent year-round diving opportunities. Visibility changes from day to day so there is no better or worse season for visibility.

Water temperature ranges from 23 – 28 Celsius throughout the year so a

3 - 5 mm wetsuit is sufficient to keep you comfortably warm under water. Most dive sites are only 10 minutes away and accessible all year.

By joining the PADI Instructor Development Course, you will learn to teach and plan dive courses according to the PADI system using the latest materials. You will learn the PADI Standards and Procedures, academic teaching presentations, teaching divers in confined and open water training and improve your leadership skills.

When you arrive, you will meet our Platinum IDC Course Director Martin van Gestel and Staff Instructors, who will guide you through your IDC Course and IE. On the first day you start with the IDC preparation. We will go over your paperwork, payments, course planning and exam sessions.

The days during the IDC are long but rewarding. Generally, the day starts at 7.00. Depending on the planning and progress made, you will finish in the late afternoon or evening. In the evening you will study and prepare for the next day (classroom presentations, theory practice, open water or confined training sessions).

Our IDC groups are small and we optimize the workload to make sure everyone will be able to have plenty of practice and pass the course requirements.

After the IDC you must successfully complete the PADI Instructor Examination (IE). The IE evaluates your teaching ability, dive knowledge, skill level, understanding of the PADI System, attitude and professionalism. An official examiner from PADI will come to evaluate the IDC candidates during two days. Upon successful completion of the IE, you will be awarded the rating of PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) and be able to teach all PADI courses from Entry-level to Divemaster.

Emergency First Response Instructor (EFRI)

2022 JUNE-4.jpg

To become an active PADI Instructor, you need to have the Emergency First Response Instructor rating in your pocket as well. Usually, we do this at the end of our IDC. The course is included in the price of the IDC.

The EFRI course is done over two days. The course requires no diving and will only consist of classroom training scenarios. First, we start to refresh all of your skills and then you will learn how to perform them at demonstration level.

Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT)

When you successfully complete the IDC, the next step is to become a Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT).

Most IDC graduates do the MSDT preparation directly after completing the IDC as it only takes 5 days.

We include 2 free specialties with your IDC (PADI Shark AWARE and Enriched Air Specialty Instructor). That means you only need 3 extra Instructor Specialties to be able to apply for the MSDT rating.

If you book the MSDT as add-on to the IDC, you can choose 3 additional specialties from the following options: Deep, O2 provider, Search & Recovery, Dive against Debris, Underwater Navigation, Fish ID.

The PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating sets you apart as a dive instructor who takes continuing education seriously and is committed to teaching a variety of courses. Which makes you more valuable in the job market. After you complete the IDC, IE and MSDT you will be a certified instructor able to teach 5 PADI Specialty Courses.

Once you are certified in 5 specialties you can start teaching and after reaching 25 Specialty certifications

(in any level) you can apply for the PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating directly with PADI.

If you book the IDC with us, we offer the MSDT Preparation package at a reduced rate of $500 USD.

We offer a very broad range of PADI Specialty Instructor courses depending on your interests.

If you want to book them individually the PADI Specialty Instructor courses start at $150 USD per Specialty.

And the application that you pay to PADI to become a Specialty instructor is $79 USD per Specialty course.

2022 JUNE-22.jpg

As a future PADI professional it is mandatory to own your own set of personal equipment and you cannot start the IDC course without them!

You need: Mask, fins, snorkel, BCD, regulator, long/short wetsuit 3 or 5 mm, dive computer, DSMB, compass, knife / divers’ tool, sound device (whistle).
